Glass Life Cycle

This is the life cycle of glass from start to finish.

Glass Life Cycle

Day Three: The New Me Is A Fine One

Today was the cooling period. After cooling down for a certain amount of time I was taken out of the mold that I was in. As I was taken out of the mold I discovered so many others like me. They began telling me so many stories of journeys they have endured.  They also mentioned that we should continue to get to know each other because we would probably see each other again. They said it was because after glass is made and used it will then be recycled. The recycled glass is then used to form other glass bottles.

This is by far the most extraordinary thing that has ever happened to me. I just wish all of my family was here to experience this phenomenon. I guess in the end all of the motion sickness and burning up was worth it. I can not wait to visit my new friends again.

Day Two: My Transformation

It was bright and early when I woke up in the glass making plant. There was so many people making so much noise. All of a sudden I was picked up with other grains and then placed on a conveyor belt. All of the moving made me sick to my stomach. My whole life I never moved that much so to go from being grounded to all of this motion was not good at all. Then all of the moving came to a halt. My eyes wandered upwards to see "soda ash" and "limestone". Eventually the other things that I saw were emptied into my container. I was very hesitance at first, but then I realized the other materials were very friendly too. We became very good friends for the short time that we were together. The temperature began to rise. I became very sweaty and hot from the increasing temperature. The heat was unbearable at this moment. As the the conveyor belt continued to move I saw a bright light at the end. It looked like a burning light. I eventually passed out from exhaustion.

I woke up feeling different. I know it was a good different. I felt strong and refined. Almost as if I could do anything. It felt like I was something else. I noticed that the soda ash and the limestone were closer to me now than they were before. It was like we were one in the same. I also noticed my color changed too. I began to put things together. I realized we had to be heated at very high temperatures to be formed together. As I was contemplating everything that just happened I then concluded that they were not done with me yet.

Day One: The Beginning of the End

It was a beautiful morning on the beaches of Australia. I was up quite early from all of the ruckus from my many neighbors. I have literally millions of them, but I do not mind because the sun was hot and the coolness of the ocean caressed me. Today started off like any other day with all the people walking on top of me and the sounds from the birds, but then all of a sudden I heard something from a far. It sounded like a big heavy machine. It kept creeping closer and closer. My friends and I were shaking from the machines vibrations. We had no idea what to expect.

BAM! The machine picked me up. I was terrified. It just continuously sucked up grain after grain after grain of sand. I was beyond scared. I was mortified. I thought this was going to be the last of me, so I began saying to myself that I lived a good life; there was no need for regrets because I had done everything I have ever wanted to do. Then I realized I was not exactly dying. The machine was taking all my fellow grains and me to a glass making plant. It was strange because I have never left the sandy beaches of Australia before. The beach has been my home for a very long time and because of that it was extremely difficult to remain calm considering my obscure dilemma.
